Specialised Hardware Solutions

As a gambling company we don’t supply generic computing hardware. In some cases, like with the Player Tracking Unit, it is more cost effective to use fit for purpose-designed hardware to reduce costs. Below are some of the more prominent hardware we have designed specifically for gambling purposes:

Player Tracking Unit (PTU)

Many system providers use commercial components to make up a Player Tracking Unit, using different components, each needing to be integrated and coming with their own cost sensitivities. Our approach was to design a single board (EPC) that can fulfil many functions, increasing economies of scale and reducing costs to the operator. This component also allows the solution to scale to many machines, as is effectively performs most of the resource intensive tasks.

 Site Data Loggers (SDLs)

Most of our solutions are required to offer off-liner capabilities due to the nature of our customers’ telecommunications infrastructures. To allow for this we use generic computing hardware servers in those venues that have access to IT resources. But many venues, especially the smaller ones, have no access to IT skills, so we developed the Site Data Logger. In essence it is a full-blown server packaged as an appliance (a white device with an on/off switch).  Some of the SDL’s hardware and software features are:

  • Built-in UPS with automated battery management and shutdown routines

  • Dual access lock with tamper detection

  • Secure data module with high levels of encryption for further data protection

  • Windows-based operating system with SQL express for reduced licensing costs

  • Automated cloud backups with automated system restores

  • Boot loader that will automatically (or manually) update application software

  • Segregated application software for increased reliability, including App Loader, SDL Application, Message Queue and the Site User Interface (SUI)
